“Re-assessing Philippine Systematics Priorities in the Light of Global Climate Change”

This is the largest annual gathering of systematists, taxonomists and specialists working on the rich biodiversity of the Philippines and neighboring regions.  Students of taxonomy and systematics are likewise encouraged to participate and present their researches.

Post-Conference Tours (Sunday, May 23, 2010)
For the first time in ASBP history, the organizers are pleased to suggest a number of post-conference packaged tours to enhance the ASBP annual meeting experience. All packages have set minimums for these to proceed, and include round-trip transportation and admission charges. Lunch is excluded except where noted, and tips and gratuities are optional. All tours originate and end in a place to be announced later. Tours start at 8:00 a.m.

Shooting the Rapids and Pagsanjan River Cruise (PhP2300/head, minimum 8)
Following the course of Pagsanjan River, experienced boat men will steer wooden canoes through rushing waters, culminating with the vista of the magnificent Magdapio Falls. Prepare to get wet by bringing another change of dry clothes!

Villa Escudero Heritage Tour (PhP1950/head, minimum 10)
Experience real Philippine country life inside a self-contained coconut plantation founded in 1880, with rides on carabao-drawn carts, welcome drinks, cultural shows and native lunch at the foot of the waterfalls for a fun-filled, relaxing day with plenty of time at your leisure.

UPLB Complex Tour (PhP400/head, minimum 10)
A fully escorted tour around UPLB campus culminating in the cool confines of the Makiling Botanic Gardens, the Flat Rocks and vicinity for viewing some of the officially declared, aged UPLB Heritage Trees.

Hiking to the mudspring on Mount Makiling (PhP200/head, minimum 5)
This is a guided 5-kilometer hike through the ascending rugged road cutting through lush tropical forests while heading towards one of the craters of Mount Makiling featuring boiling springs and sulfuric vents for a nice experience of outdoor fun. Appropriate clothing and footwear strongly advised.

UPLB Museum of Natural History (free, advanced reservations required)
Access to the Herbarium (CAHUP) and the Entomological Collections may be available at a specified time only on Friday (May 21st) if there is enough number of registrants (advanced registration and expression of interest required, again first come, first served, limit to 40)
